I want to update you on the progress of the contact tracing and remote learning plan for students and staff in the1st grade classrooms related to the positive COVID case within the 1st grade cohorts.

As you know, starting Monday, for precautionary measures, the first grade classrooms at Lyndon Town School pivoted to remote learning. In collaboration with the Department of Health, we have now completed a very extensive and thorough contact tracing process.

As a result, some individuals in these 1st grade cohorts (including students, faculty and staff) have been determined to be “close contacts” to the COVID positive case. The individuals identified as close contacts are required to quarantine for 14 days since last contact with the positive case, or for 7 days, then be tested and receive a negative result. Although we know who these individuals are, for privacy reasons we cannot reveal who was determined to be close contacts. Contact tracers communicated this information to the individuals directly.

All other members of the 1st grade community are not considered close contacts and do not need to quarantine. For continuity of teaching and learning, we have made the decision that all individuals in first grade- students, faculty and staff, will continue in remote learning through December 18th, and return to in-person schooling on December 21st. To have some staff and students return while others remained remote is not feasible for staffing and scheduling reasons.

Thank you again for your support and cooperation as we navigate this next step in remaining safe and continuing the learning for our students.

Please continue to take good care of yourselves and each other. If you have any questions, please reach out to Tara Prue (tprue@kingdomeast.org), Soph Hall (shall@kingdomeast.org), Jennifer Botzojorns (jbotzojorns@kingdomeast.org) or me directly (agale@kingdomeast.org).

Have a good evening.

Sincerely,

Amy Gale, Principal
