KESD SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH
Kingdom East Superintendent Search
With sincere gratitude and deep appreciation for her significant contributions to education in the Northeast Kingdom, the Kingdom East School District Board accepted Jennifer Botzojorns' resignation effective June 30, 2023. Working with Jen over the past six years has been a pleasure. She shepherded us through the daunting ACT46 process, expanded opportunities for all Kingdom East students, led us through a pandemic, and always advocated for the Northeast Kingdom by being a respected and proactive voice in Montpelier. Her contributions to our district and the region are many, and she will be greatly missed.
During the November board meeting, the Kingdom East Board expressed an interest in starting the superintendent search process ASAP. As directed, we have begun the process by identifying Elaine Pinckney, a retired Champlain Valley School District superintendent, as the consultant who will work with us on the superintendent search. In addition to conducting superintendent searches, Elaine facilitates strategic planning and coaches principals and other educational leaders. Elaine recently assisted the St. Johnsbury School District with their new superintendent search.
After identifying a consultant, the next step in the search process consisted of forming a committee to evaluate superintendent candidates and recommend a final candidate to the KESD board, that ultimately makes the hiring decision. The school community is also involved in the search process, with an opportunity to provide input through an online survey. Once candidates are identified, the school and greater community are invited to participate in a candidate meet-and-greet gathering.
