Burke Town School Odyssey of the Mind Team Wins State Division to Qualify for World Championship

March 19, 2024

On Saturday, March 16, 2024 Burke Town School students competed in the 2024 Vermont Odyssey of the Mind Tournament at Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg, Vermont. Odyssey of the Minds is a creative problem-solving program that requires teams of students to present a solution to a long-term problem. The solution takes months for students to complete. Students can pick 1 out of 5 problems to solve and present at the state competition.

The Burke 6th through 8th grade group collaborated and worked cohesively and creatively to solve their problem. Their solution included original lyrics, music, costume designs, hairstyles, and skits. Students needed to include Arm and Hammer Baking Soda in their solution, which they did with creative ease. Our team won two awards. The most prestigious award they received was the Rainatra Fusca award, which was awarded to them for their overall creativity of the solution. In addition to winning first place in their division. We couldn't be prouder!
