May 6 Kingdom East Track And Field Opening Meet @ North Country

KESD Track + Field at North Country

The inaugural KESD Track + Field team attended their first ever meet at North Country High School on Friday. It was an amazing day, where many firsts were just that, winning performances by KESD athletes. The boys side was led by Linden van der Linde with a victory in the 1500 meter run and 3rd place in the 400 m. Alex Lynaugh took 3rd in the 800 m.

The girls team had an incredible first meet with outstanding results from Isabelle Butler - 1st in the 100 and 200 meter runs, Samantha Hensel - 1st in the 400 m and 2nd in the 200 m, Mayan Hickman 3rd in the 400 m, Stella van der Linde - 1st in the 1500 m, and the KESD relay team of Lyda Bentley, Mayan Hickman, Harper Allen, and Stella van der Linde won the 4 x 400 meter relay.

Although runners are accustomed to running, the following students were top performers in field events they have only had three practices at prior to the meet: Linden van der Linde long jump (8th), boys discus - Cody Cass (6th) and Connall Kennedy (7th), and Ava Rapkowicz threw the discus and finished 7th.

In the end, the boys finished 4th and the girls third in the five team meet.

The team hosts their only home meet of the season this Thursday at the Lyndon Institute track beginning at 3:45.
