December 6, 2020

We are in the midst of contact tracing related to a positive case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) that affects our first grade community. Tomorrow December 7, 2020, all three cohorts of 1st grade students will pivot to remote learning. These three cohorts of first grade students will stay at home and access remote learning through Friday, December 11. No students, faculty or staff within this cohort will be in school during this time period. We anticipate students and staff in this cohort will return to school on Monday, December 14.

For schooling tomorrow, please refer to your remote learning paper packets and remote learning schedule. These were sent home in backpacks several weeks ago on bright pink paper. Teachers will be reaching out to students with any adjustments to the remote learning schedule. This information will be communicated via student/parent email.

Meals (breakfast and lunch) will be prepared and can be picked up starting at 3:30pm until 5:30pm. Please drive to the cafeteria entrance and a staff member will meet you at your car and deliver your student’s meals to you.

Tomorrow, Dec 7, student devices will be available for parent pick up starting at 3:30pm until 5:30pm. Please drive to the cafeteria entrance and a staff member will meet you at your car and deliver your student’s device to you.

We are pivoting to 100% remote learning for the three 1st grade cohorts to minimize any spread of the virus while we complete contact tracing. When we are alerted about a positive case we then need to review our room logs and attendance records, determine specific contact times and notify individuals determined to be close contacts. We have consulted about this information with the department of health and are making calls to individuals who are considered close contacts.

Thank you for understanding that, due to medical privacy laws, we are not able to release the name of any individuals with COVID-19.

Please do not ask or post on social media any speculation concerning the identity of the individuals. It is important to respect privacy and we are all part of a close community. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you when more information becomes available.

Please continue to take good care of yourselves and each other. Feel free to reach out to Tara Prue (tprue@kingdomeast.org), Soph Hall (shall@kingdomeast.org), Jennifer Botzojorns (jbotzojorns@kingdomeast.org) or me directly (agale@kingdomeast.org) if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Amy Gale, Principal
