The Kingdom East School District Board is pleased to announce the selection of Jen Botzojorns as Interim Superintendent, effective July 1, 2026.
Following a comprehensive search and selection process, the Board unanimously identified Botzojorns as the ideal leader to guide the district during this transitional period. Her extensive experience, commitment to educational excellence, and dedication to student success distinguished her among a strong pool of candidates.
Jen brings over 30 years of experience in education spanning many roles. She previously served as Superintendent of the Kingdom East School District from July 2016 through June 2023, where she led the district through a period of thoughtful growth, strategic planning, and a strong focus on student achievement and community engagement. During her tenure, she collaborated with the Board and community to implement a five-year strategic plan, strengthened instructional leadership across schools, and guided the district through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with a focus on clear communication and support for staff, students, and families.
Under her leadership, the district expanded student access to academic and co-curricular opportunities, including increased athletic participation and expanded advanced coursework for middle school students. She also led initiatives that modernized district technology systems, strengthened hiring and communication practices, and improved operational efficiency across central office functions. Botzojorns managed annual district budgets exceeding $40 million, secured more than $2 million in grant funding for facilities improvements, and worked collaboratively with community partners and educators to advance innovative learning opportunities for students.
School Board Chair Lindsay Carpenter emphasized the strengths Botzojorns brings to the role, describing her as “a candidate who not only possesses a proven track record of excellence in the superintendent role but also embodies the core values of transparency, collaboration, communication, and student-centered decision-making.”
Botzojorns has built a reputation for fostering inclusive school communities, supporting educators, and implementing forward-thinking strategies that enhance student outcomes. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to partnership with families, staff, and the broader community.
“Her focus on relationship building, innovative leadership, and deep understanding of both state and local educational needs make her a strong fit to lead our staff and students over the next year,” said Carpenter.
Botzojorns holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Vermont, and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Dartmouth College. In addition to her district leadership, she has taught graduate-level education courses at several Vermont and regional institutions.
In recognition of her impact on Vermont education, Botzojorns was named Vermont Superintendent of the Year in 2023.
As Interim Superintendent, Botzojorns will work closely with district stakeholders to maintain continuity, support district priorities, and ensure a smooth transition while continuing to advance academic achievement and community engagement across the Kingdom East School District.
The Kingdom East School District Board is confident that Botzojorns’ experience, leadership, and knowledge of the district will help ensure stability and continued progress during the coming year. The Board looks forward to working closely with her to support students, staff, and the broader community.
