Sutton School Employee Spotlight: Charlie Delany

December 2, 2024

Meet Charlie Delany,

Sutton School Middle School Science Teacher

Charlie Delany, also known as Mr. Delany to his 5th-8th grade students, has worked with Kingdom East School District for 3 years and has been an educator for the past 9 years. Growing up Charlie had a deep love for learning and always had a curiosity for how things worked and why things happen the way that they do. This curiosity quickly earned him the title of "breaking boy" as a kid, as he was constantly taking things apart to see what they were made of and how they worked. Prior to becoming an educator, Charlie worked as a mechanic. During his time as a mechanic, he had a trainee working closely with him, and this is when he realized how much he enjoyed helping others in the learning process and he set forth on his path of becoming an educator.

Mr. Delany was asked a series of questions regarding his time at Sutton School and with Kingdom East School District. Below are some of the questions that were asked, followed by his answers.

Q: What is your favorite thing about working in a school?

Answer: "My favorite thing about working in schools is making connections with students, families, and colleagues. I love when I'm in town and hear "Hi Mr. Delany!" from a student or parent. I moved up here about 12 years ago and I feel like working in the school district gave me a sense of belonging".

Q: What have been some of your favorite moments as an educator?

Answer: "My favorite moments are when students come down from the lunch room and we chat about hunting, farming, and life in general. It really makes me feel special because they choose, on a daily basis, to spend some time with me connecting".

Q: What are you looking forward to about this school year?

Answer: "Last year we began working on establishing a maple sugaring operation at the school. I am excited to get the student project team going again and making progress towards our goal".

Q: Do you have any additional information that you would like to include in your employee spotlight?

Answer: "I am originally from Connecticut. I am an aspiring farmer, and I enjoy hunting and fishing in my free time".

Thank you, Mr. Delany, for all that you do for our school district! We appreciate the dedication you contribute daily to your students, Sutton School, and the Kingdom East School District!
