Help Protect KESD Funding and Local Taxpayers: Please Complete Vermont's 2026-2027 Household Income Form
November 5, 2026
Dear parents, guardians and Kingdom East caregivers,
Kingdom East School District is asking every KESD family to complete the annual Household Income Verification Form as soon as possible, even if you have completed it in the past. This short form plays an important role in determining how much state funding our district receives and helps reduce the financial burden on local taxpayers.
The form takes just a few minutes to complete. Families will be asked to provide student names and indicate whether their household income falls above or below a certain amount based on household size.
Please note, you do not need to share your exact income, and Social Security numbers are not requested. All information is submitted to the State of Vermont and kept private.
Why Is This Form So Important?
The State of Vermont uses a system called weighted pupil count to help determine school district funding and local tax rates. Under this system, additional weight is given to students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
Although Vermont now provides free meals to all students at school, families must still complete the income verification form for this information to be included in the state's school funding formula.
When families do not submit the form, students may not be counted in this category. This can have a significant impact on KESD's funding.
Completing the form helps:
- Secure state funding:
Every eligible student properly counted helps KESD receive the state funding it is entitled to. - Protect local taxpayers:
More state funding can help reduce the amount that must be covered by local property taxes across our eight towns. - Support our schools and programs:
Adequate funding helps KESD maintain the programs, services, and educational opportunities available to students. - Ensure accurate student counts:
Each completed form helps the state get a more accurate picture of the students and families in our district.
KESD's weighted student count has dropped significantly, and missing household income forms are a contributing factor. Every missing form matters. When fewer students are counted, the district risks receiving less state funding, which can mean higher costs for local taxpayers and fewer resources for our schools.
How Can You Help?
Please complete the form linked below today. We are asking every KESD family to take a few minutes to submit it, even if you have filled it out before.
