November 23, 2020

Monday, November 23, 2020, we learned that a person within the 4th grade cohort of Ms. Bussiere and Ms. Sloan’s class has tested positive for the Coronavirus. We are working with the VT Department of Health regarding this information.

As a precautionary measure we ask that all 4th grade students in Ms. Sloan and Ms. Bussiere’s classrooms be picked up today as soon as possible by a family member or emergency contact. None of these 4th grade students will be able to remain at school or ride the school bus this afternoon. Please make arrangements to pick up your child as soon as possible today but no later than 11:30.

As a precautionary measure we are switching to remote learning for all students in Ms. Sloan and Ms. Bussiere’s classrooms. Not all students will be identified as close contacts that must quarantine, however all students are moving to remote learning immediately and continuing through Monday Dec 1. Until Dec 2 there will be no in-person school for 4th grade students in Ms. Sloan and Ms. Bussiere’s classrooms.

Tomorrow through the 1st of December students in these classrooms will stay home and follow our remote learning plans. These were sent home the week of September 28th on bright pink paper.

Thank you for understanding that, due to medical privacy laws, we are not able to release the name of the individual with COVID-19. Please do not speculate or ask about the individual, we are a small community and want to respect all members.

Please answer the phone if the Health Department or our school office contacts you. A contact tracer may be trying to reach you with important information. If you are not contacted by the department of Health or our office within 48 hours, it means you are not a close contact.

We recommend everyone take action to help limit the spread of COVID-19, even if your child is not experiencing symptoms.

The most important things you can do:

Ms Sloan and Ms Bussiere’s will be conducting remote learning class and will share details about remote learning through regular contact with students. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you from our school office as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at (626-3209)  agale@kingdomeast.org.

Sincerely,

Amy Gale. Principal
