Positive Covid Test Burke Town School

March 15, 2021

Dear Burke Town School Families:

Today we received word that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID 19. Upon learning of this news, we worked with the Vermont Department of Health to carry out contact tracing.

We separate programs and classes by cohort within Burke Town School, we isolate sub-groups within our in-person community, and we all follow safety measures. Because of these measures, at this point our ability to provide in-person instruction at all grade levels remains in place, and there is not a need to switch to remote learning at this time.

The Department of Health has instructed us that a small number of our school community are determined to be “close contacts” with the reported positive COVID tests. These individuals are required to quarantine as directed by the Department of Health.

The Vermont Department of Health reminded us that if people are concerned about whether or not they are a close contact, the contact tracers are still in the process of reaching out. However, at this point in time anyone believed to be a close contact has received initial communication from the school.

Thank you for understanding that, due to privacy laws, we are not able to release the name of the individuals with COVID-19 or the individuals quarantining. If you have questions or concerns, reach out directly to Principal Megan Jones, Nurse Louise Vinton or Superintendent Jennifer Botzojorns. We all welcome calls and emails so we can respond directly to any questions or needs of additional information.

With respect and appreciation for being partners together in this journey.

Sincerely yours,

Megan Jones, Principal
Jennifer Botzojorns, Superintendent
