KINGDOM EAST XC RUNNING

K-4 Grade XC Running (Non-Competitive)

This program specifically emphasizes a non-competitive approach and prioritizes participation, personal growth, and enjoyment. All K-4th grade students are welcome to join, regardless of their current running ability or prior experience, ensuring an environment where every child can participate.

  • Focus on Fun and Exploration

The program uses games, varied activities, and positive encouragement to make running enjoyable. The goal is to foster a love for physical activity and running, rather than creating pressure to perform at a certain level.

  • Afterschool Convenience

Taking place after school hours, the program provides a structured and safe outlet for physical activity and enrichment, making it accessible for families and integrating seamlessly into the school day.

  • Multiple Locations for Accessibility

To make the program as accessible as possible for families across the district, the KESD K-4th grade XC program will operate out of multiple locations. Tentatively, these include: Lyndon Town School, Burke Town School, & Newark School

  • Practice Schedule

Students will practice two times a week, afterschool between 3:30 & 5:00pm. There are no set days currently. Students may attend the KEAP program before practice as long as registration has been approved by the site coordinator at the school.

5th-8th Grade XC Running

Whether you're a seasoned runner or have never laced up a pair of running shoes before, everyone is welcome regardless of experience! Our program is designed to be inclusive, fostering a love for running in a supportive and fun environment. While the emphasis is on participation and personal growth, there will also be a competitive aspect for those who enjoy pushing their limits.

  • XC Meets

We'll participate in three to five meets

throughout the season, giving runners the

chance to test their skills and cheer on their teammates.

  • Practices

Practices will be held two times a week,

typically between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

  • Skills

During our practices, runners will learn essential skills such as:

    • Proper running form: How to run efficiently and prevent injuries.
    • Pacing strategies: Understanding how to conserve energy and finish strong.
    • Warm-up and cool-down techniques: Preparing your body for exercise and aiding recovery.
    • Stretching and flexibility: Improving range of motion and reducing muscle soreness.
    • Teamwork and sportsmanship: Supporting fellow runners and competing with integrity.
  • Location(s)

We are hoping to have a team at Lyndon Town School and Burke Town School this year. More specific details regarding practice schedules, meet dates, and registration will be announced as soon as they are available. Get ready to hit the trails and discover the joy of cross country running!
